Leave Management Specialist

About The Position

Administers the university’s comprehensive leave management programs for a self-insured institution by ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, university policies, and regulatory requirements. Manages Workers’ Compensation claims by reviewing workplace accidents and injuries, coordinating with the North Carolina Industrial Commission, third-party administrators, medical providers, and campus departments, while overseeing return-to-work programs and employee case management. Administers the Family and Medical Leave Act ( FMLA ), Voluntary Shared Leave, Disability Income Plan of North Carolina ( DIP -NC), Paid Parental Leave, Military Leave, Bereavement Leave, Civil Leave, Family Illness Leave, Pandemic Leave and other applicable leave programs. Provides guidance to employees and supervisors throughout the leave process, monitors leave usage and medical certifications, prepares required payroll and regulatory reports, conducts training, develops and interprets policies, and ensures accurate administration of leave and disability benefits while maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a four year college or university; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • All degrees must be from appropriately accredited institutions.
