About The Position

We are actively seeking a dedicated Bilingual Human Resource Advisor who specializes in leave management to join a proactive and consultative team. This role involves providing comprehensive daily support and expert guidance throughout the employee leave lifecycle. As a trusted subject matter expert, you will collaborate closely with employees, managers, and HR business partners to deliver a high level of consultative service and ensure seamless leave management processes. HR Operations is an integral partner and service provider at Kiewit. In recent years, we have gone from decentralized HR groups to a unified, shared service team, with various HR Centers of Excellence. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline, demonstrating foundational knowledge essential for effective leave management.
• 2 + years of experience in Human Resources, with specific exposure to leave administration and employee relations considered an asset.
• Proficient bilingual communication skills in English and French, both spoken and written, enabling effective interaction across diverse organizational levels.
• In-depth understanding of corporate leave policies coupled with a solid grasp of federal, provincial, and state labor laws regulating employee absences.
• Consistent and reliable attendance, demonstrating commitment to operational responsibilities and workplace engagement.
• Strong investigative capabilities and analytical thinking to assess leave needs accurately and structure appropriate, compliant leave plans.
• Adaptability to evolving technological tools and administrative systems, ensuring proficiency with current and upcoming HR technologies.
• Demonstrated problem-solving aptitude, applying sound judgment to navigate complex leave scenarios and deliver practical solutions.
• Competence in fundamental mathematical calculations relevant to benefits and leave entitlements.
• A genuine service-oriented mindset focused on supporting employees and colleagues with empathy and professionalism.
• Results-driven work ethic balancing independent task management with collaborative teamwork dynamics.
• Strict adherence to confidentiality standards, safeguarding sensitive employee information with integrity.

Nice To Haves

• Preferred familiarity with SAP HR modules and intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel, supporting efficient documentation and communication.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and analyze extended absence files (CNESST, Short Term and Long Term Disability, illness, maternity, FMLA, States and Provincials’ leaves, etc.).
• Inform employees and managers on the application of the leave law
• Keep abreast of new HR trends and ensure the organization's compliance with the various labour laws
• Build and manage strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders during the leave process
• Utilize leave management software to complete leave related tasks in a timely manner
• Communicate with vendors as needed to facilitate timely processing of disability claims
• Participate in the continuous improvement process to refine and evolve the leave process and enhance the employee experience
• Provide solutions to leave investigations
• Be aware of industry and sector trends and best practices
