About The Position

The Leasing Agent has full responsibility for site marketing and leasing, application processing, review and documentation, program compliance, wait list process, and unit-file maintenance. This role requires a professional demeanor and the ability to work effectively in a professional office environment, with occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions and the need to lift up to 30 pounds. The position also involves occasional evening and weekend work.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 1 year of previous low-income housing property leasing.
  • Previous leasing, sales, or customer service experience is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and property management software (e.g., Yardi).
  • Ability to work weekends and flexible hours as needed.
  • Professional demeanor and a positive attitude.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Present self in a neat, clean, and professional manner at all times.
  • Regular attendance and punctuality are mandatory.
  • Intermediate level experience in computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and community software applications.
  • Comfortable working in a professional office environment.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Must possess a positive attitude and professional demeanor with all staff, residents, and vendors.

Responsibilities

  • Greet prospective residents, conduct property tours, and highlight community features and benefits.
  • Respond promptly to leasing inquiries via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Process rental applications, conduct background checks, and prepare lease agreements.
  • Maintain accurate records of leasing activity, traffic, and follow-ups.
  • Assist with marketing efforts, including online listings, social media, and community outreach.
  • Ensure model units and common areas are clean and presentable.
  • Support resident retention efforts and respond to service requests or concerns.
  • Collaborate with the property management team to meet occupancy and revenue goals.
  • Perform duties in compliance with all applicable fair housing, federal, state, and local statutes, and in compliance with all loan, grant, or program requirements.
  • Participate in training in order to comply with new or existing laws.
