About The Position

VEG is seeking a Learning Lab Assistant to support their SPIKEone learning space. This role is crucial in ensuring that training environments are fully prepared and organized for educators and VEGgies (employees). The assistant will work closely with the SPIKEone Director and educators to prepare labs, manage equipment and supplies, support specimens, troubleshoot issues, and maintain a welcoming atmosphere for learners. The ultimate goal is to create a seamless learning experience that allows educators to focus on teaching and VEGgies to focus on learning, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality SPIKEone experiences.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
1+ years of experience in a veterinary, medical, laboratory, simulation, teaching, or similarly hands-on environment.
Strong organization and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple physical and logistical tasks in a fast-moving environment.
Comfort learning how equipment works, troubleshooting routine issues, and following established procedures.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods, kneel or work on the floor.
Ability to lift up to 25 kg independently and support items up to 40 kg with assistance.
Comfort working in an environment that may include noise, strong or unpleasant odors, veterinary specimens, and occasional night/weekend work.

Nice To Haves

Veterinary-assistant experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Prepare and reset SPIKEone labs and learning spaces for courses and events, ensuring rooms, equipment, supplies, materials, and other course needs are ready.
Organize and maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, inventory, and storage to ensure they are course-ready.
Support routine maintenance and troubleshoot common equipment issues.
Coordinate the ordering, receiving, storage, organization, and readiness of cadavers and other lab materials according to established procedures.
Partner with the SPIKEone Director and educators to support Continuing Education, hospital training days, and other learning experiences from setup to closeout.
Liaise with equipment representatives, vendors, educators, and internal partners on routine deliveries, supplies, service needs, and other requirements.
Create a thoughtful and welcoming environment for learners and educators.
Identify and address issues promptly, solving what can be handled and escalating when necessary.
