Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Community Studies, the incumbent performs duties associated with the academic and service operation of the Community Integration through Co-operative Education certificate program (C.I.C.E.). This is a two-year program for students with Intellectual Disabilities, developmental disabilities and/or other significant learning challenges. The main role of this position is to support the enhancement of academic and vocational skills of the participants through modified programming to meet their individual needs; all while ensuring they receive the opportunity to experience college life, pursue a post-secondary education, as well as develop skills which will help prepare them for employment and to function more independently in their communities. The incumbent provides adaptation and modifications to in-class activities, assignments, tests and examinations in Academic Experience courses, provides assistance in arranging support and resources for students, prepares and writes progress reviews and other documentation in co-operation with students and faculty. They will consult with faculty regarding changes or modifications to the curricula –as needed- and will assist faculty in implementing those changes. This is a collaborative approach, where the incumbent works very closely with individual student(s), faculty and staff. This position requires a clear Criminal Reference Check for Vulnerable Populations (Police Record Check).
