Learning Experience Designer

Universal Orlando•Orlando, FL

About The Position

As Learning Experience Designer within the Leadership Capability & Learning COE, you are the team’s primary design expert, translating strategic capability priorities into engaging and effective development experiences, including e-learning and instructor-led training. You create modern, immersive, impactful solutions and work in close partnership with the Sr. Manager, Leadership Capability, who sets strategic design direction by diagnosing capability gaps and defining desired behavior changes. You bring that direction to life through learning design craft, creativity, adult-learning expertise, and informed use of tools, technologies, and emerging practices. You have significant creative autonomy within this partnership and are expected to contribute ideas, push the boundaries of development experiences, and continually raise design quality. You are also the visual and design standard-bearer for the COE, owning its visual design standards and templates so that its deliverables have a consistent look and feel. You own internal instructional design and learning production tools, maintain proficiency in them, and explore emerging learning technologies. You partner with Learning Operations on technology decisions involving leader-facing platforms, integrating AI where it can meaningfully improve personalization, scalability, and effectiveness. You are also expected to understand and participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policies, procedures, training, and team-member involvement activities.

  • At least 3 years of experience designing and building learning or development experiences end to end.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, Articulate Rise, Adobe Captivate, or equivalent.
  • Strong visual design and visual communication skills, demonstrated through high-quality, polished work across multiple formats and modalities.
  • Portfolio submission with the application is required.
  • Working knowledge of adult learning theory and learning science, including the ability to explain design choices and their connection to how adults learn.
  • Experience designing beyond the classroom, such as simulations, scenario-based learning, experiential modules, or immersive digital learning assets.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint or an equivalent presentation design tool at a high visual standard.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI-powered learning tools, immersive learning platforms, or adaptive learning technologies.
  • Experience establishing or contributing to visual design standards, template systems, or brand guidelines for a team or function.
  • Background in experience design, interaction design, or UX, including outside an L&D context.
  • Experience in a COE, consulting environment, or complex matrixed organization where strategic direction was often ambiguous and design solutions had to be built without a complete brief.
  • Experience in a fast-moving, operationally complex industry such as hospitality, entertainment, or retail, where practicality and speed matter alongside craft quality.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build simulations, scenario-based experiences, experiential labs, and immersive learning environments that place leaders in realistic situations and require decision-making.
  • Develop engaging, high-quality e-learning and digital learning assets that extend development into the flow of work.
  • Translate capability priorities and strategic design direction into concrete learning experiences and creative solutions.
  • Rapidly prototype, pilot with learners, gather feedback, and iterate to optimize for behavior change.
  • Build a reusable library of design assets, templates, and components to accelerate future work and maintain consistency across the COE portfolio.
  • Establish and maintain visual design standards for COE deliverables, including program materials, participant guides, presentations, and digital assets.
  • Create a practical, flexible, easy-to-use template library that enables others to maintain design standards.
  • Apply visual storytelling to leadership experiences and make program, module, and asset narrative arcs intentional alongside instructional design.
  • Translate leadership concepts, capability frameworks, and development models into visuals that are legible to both theme park operations leaders and HR professionals.
  • Improve how the COE communicates its strategy, impact, and value through decks, one-pagers, infographics, and other visual formats.
  • Own internal instructional design and learning production tools, including selecting and maintaining proficiency in the technologies used by the COE.
  • Monitor and experiment with emerging learning technologies, including AI-powered development tools, immersive and simulation platforms, and adaptive learning technologies.
  • Recommend changes to the COE’s practices based on developments in the field and challenge existing approaches where appropriate.
  • Partner with Learning Operations on technology decisions that intersect with leader-facing platforms, aligning on sustainability, budget, and operational support.
  • Integrate AI meaningfully into learning design and delivery to support more personalized, scalable, and effective development.
  • Follow established UDX Environmental, Health & Safety policies, procedures, and training, and participate in team-member involvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
