About The Position

The Learning & Engagement Specialist helps build a knowledgeable, capable, and engaged workforce across the agency. This position designs and delivers professional development, compliance, and skills-based training through in-person, virtual, and asynchronous learning formats. The Specialist serves as an agency instructor for Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and Safe Crisis Management (SCM), providing initial, refresher, and booster training to promote safe and therapeutic environments for staff and youth. The position also partners with Human Resources and organizational leadership to identify learning needs, support staff development, monitor compliance, and strengthen onboarding and training practices. This is a collaborative role for an engaging facilitator who enjoys building relationships, developing others, and making a meaningful impact across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Psychology, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to engage diverse audiences and build effective relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficiency with Learning Management Systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability and willingness to travel between agency locations in Westchester County and NYC.
  • Certification Requirement: must successfully complete agency-provided TCI and SCM educator training and become certified within one year of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Residential treatment, behavioral health, child welfare, human services, or other related experience.
  • Experience in adult learning, instructional design, or employee development.
  • Experience with learning analytics and reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate new hire orientation, compliance, professional development, and skills-based training.
  • Design and deliver engaging classes, workshops, and refresher courses using in-person, virtual, and asynchronous formats.
  • Develop and maintain training plans, learning materials, assessments, and evaluations.
  • Adapt instruction to diverse learner needs and create inclusive, engaging learning environments.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness and use feedback and data to improve learning programs.
  • Serve as an agency TCI and SCM instructor.
  • Conduct and/or co-lead initial, refresher, and booster training in TCI and SCM.
  • Support programs in developing and maintaining safe, therapeutic environments through ongoing crisis-management education.
  • Maintain required instructor certifications.
  • Serve as the learning liaison for designated programs.
  • Partner with HR and program leadership to identify training needs and support employee development.
  • Monitor training and compliance requirements and provide regular reports to HR and program leadership.
  • Provide program-based training boosters, team-building, and staff wellness activities.
  • Support effective post-orientation mentoring and participate in program staff meetings as appropriate.
  • Participate in external stakeholder audits/inquiries as directed.
  • Contribute to special projects and organizational initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
