About The Position

James Hardie is a leader in exterior home and outdoor living solutions. As a James Hardie intern, you will gain hands-on experience in your chosen field while contributing to meaningful projects that drive business results. Our 12-week paid internship program is designed to provide real-world industry exposure, strengthen your professional and technical skills, and help prepare you for a successful career. Throughout the program, you will collaborate with experienced professionals, build valuable relationships across the organization, and take on work that makes a measurable impact. You will also have access to mentoring opportunities and professional development resources to support your growth and career aspirations. This internship provides hands-on experience across the full learning and development lifecycle while contributing to high-impact leadership development initiatives. The intern will build practical capability in instructional design, facilitation, program management, stakeholder partnership, and evaluation by working through the ADDIE process on an assigned learning project. They will also contribute to the continued scaling and delivery of Lead@Hardie, our flagship leadership development program, and gain exposure to the planning of Grow@Hardie and other enterprise development initiatives.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in a relevant discipline at an accredited university.
Anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and May 2029 (rising junior or rising senior).
Strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Available to work full-time for 12 weeks during summer 2027.
Reliable transportation to and from the work location.
Authorization to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

Target majors: Human Resources, Learning & Development, Organizational Development, Talent Development, Organizational Leadership, and Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Adult Education, Communications, Business Administration, or Psychology with a focus on training, leadership development, or employee development.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel.
Coursework or experience in instructional design, adult learning, HR, organizational development, education, communications, or a related field.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Presentation and facilitation skills or interest in developing them.
Project management and organizational skills.
Curiosity and willingness to learn.
Ability to synthesize information and translate it into practical learning experiences.
Comfort working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Complete an end-to-end learning project using the ADDIE framework, from analysis to evaluation, concluding with a presentation of the solution, results, lessons learned, and recommendations.
Support the continued scaling, coordination, and delivery of Lead@Hardie, including program materials, participant experience, communications, logistics, and evaluation.
Participate in and progressively take ownership of facilitation opportunities, with coaching and feedback provided.
Support learning needs analysis, content development, instructional design, and evaluation across leadership and employee development initiatives.
Contribute to planning for Grow@Hardie, including session development, stakeholder coordination, communications, and event/program planning.
Analyze participant feedback and learning data to identify trends, measure effectiveness, and recommend program improvements.
Partner with HR, business leaders, facilitators, and subject matter experts to support learning initiatives and build exposure to enterprise L&D work.
Assist with additional leadership development and talent initiatives based on business priorities.
