About The Position

OES is seeking mid- to senior-level freelance Learning Designers to support digital learning projects on a fee-for-service basis. Projects may include MBA programs, MOOCs, competency-based training, and other technology-enabled learning solutions. The role involves turning learning requirements into high-quality, engaging, and instructionally sound experiences, using expertise in instructional design, digital pedagogy, and learning technologies. Designers collaborate with OES project teams and stakeholders to deliver agreed outcomes, applying creative, innovative, and contemporary learning design practices. OES is particularly interested in designers who use emerging technologies, including Generative AI, to enhance design quality, efficiency, and learner experiences.

This is an independent-contractor opportunity, with engagements offered project by project as business needs arise. Work may span higher education, corporate learning, and digital training. Scope, deliverables, timelines, and professional fees are agreed in advance for each engagement. Work is remote within South Africa.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in instructional design, digital pedagogy, and learning technologies.
• Experience creating engaging and impactful digital learning experiences.
• Ability to transform learning requirements into instructionally sound learning experiences.
• Mid- to senior-level professional experience as a Learning Designer.

Nice To Haves

• Experience leveraging emerging technologies, including Generative AI, in learning design.
• Expertise or interest in higher education, corporate learning, digital training, MBA programs, MOOCs, or competency-based training.

Responsibilities
