About The Position

The Learning & Development Trainer is primarily responsible for delivering technical skills training to employees, while also facilitating sales and professional development programs. This role supports the transfer of learning to the workplace by coaching and reinforcing key concepts, and contributes to the design, development, implementation, and evaluation of learning initiatives to ensure training effectiveness and business impact.

Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge and practical application of core banking systems, including Jack Henry applications (Xperience, ArgoKeys, and related platforms), Laserfiche, and other banking technologies.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional techniques, facilitation methodologies, and best practices for classroom and virtual learning environments.
  • Ability to effectively manage and engage participants in both in-person and virtual training settings while promoting a positive learning experience.
  • Proficiency with virtual training platforms and techniques designed to maximize learner engagement, participation, and knowledge retention.
  • Ability to facilitate workshops, discussions, and interactive learning activities that enhance participant understanding and on-the-job application.
  • Strong coaching, mentoring, and relationship-building skills with the ability to motivate, encourage, and develop employees at all levels.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Sales Through Service model, coaching methodologies, customer service principles, bank deposit products, and applicable banking regulations.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to assess training needs, evaluate learning effectiveness, analyze feedback, and recommend continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Forms, Teams, and related productivity tools.
  • Working knowledge and effective application of Microsoft Copilot and other AI-enabled tools to support learning development, content creation, productivity, and employee training initiatives.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, and training initiatives simultaneously.
  • Ability to work effectively with department leaders, branch management, subject matter experts, and cross-functional teams to support organizational learning and development goals.
  • Ability to learn new systems, processes, and technologies quickly and adjust training programs to meet evolving business needs.

  • Working knowledge of emerging learning technologies, including AI-enabled tools such as Microsoft Copilot, to enhance learning and development outcomes.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays if needed.
  • Ability to transfer for the purpose of offsite training.
  • Operates standard electronic computers and customary office equipment required to perform essential job functions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience delivering instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning programs preferred.
  • Experience training on core banking systems, operational processes, or financial products desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating adult learning and supporting employee performance improvement initiatives.
  • Professional certifications in learning and development, training, instructional design, coaching, or facilitation (e.g., ATD Certified Professional in Talent Development (CPTD), Associate Professional in Talent Development (APTD), or similar certifications) are preferred.
  • Experience utilizing Learning Management Systems (LMS), virtual learning platforms, and digital learning technologies preferred.
  • Familiarity with instructional design principles, curriculum development, and training evaluation methodologies is a plus.
  • Banking operations, customer service, sales, and regulatory compliance training experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation, development, and implementation of training materials, curricula, schedules, and learning resources.
  • Develop and maintain training expertise through observation, independent research, continuous learning, and participation in seminars, product reviews, and technical training programs.
  • Coordinate and deliver technical skills training on core banking systems, including Jack Henry applications such as Xperience, ArgoKeys, and related platforms, as well as other business-driven learning programs.
  • Support the development and delivery of training through multiple learning modalities, including instructor-led, virtual, video-based, web-based, and self-paced learning programs.
  • Facilitate engaging and effective training sessions in both classroom and virtual environments.
  • Partner with subject matter experts to design, develop, and deliver training initiatives focused on organizational systems, processes, and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development team members on instructional design methodologies and the creation of learner-focused training materials.
  • Foster positive, interactive, and engaging learning environments that encourage participation and knowledge retention.
  • Collect, analyze, and evaluate training feedback and course evaluations to measure program effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Recommend and implement approved updates to training materials and programs to enhance learning outcomes and business performance.
  • Promote learning transfer by recommending and utilizing tools, coaching techniques, and reinforcement strategies that support behavioral change and performance improvement.
  • Partner with department leaders and branch management to ensure training content aligns with operational needs, business objectives, and organizational initiatives.
  • Review mystery shop results and provide coaching and development recommendations to improve employee performance and customer service delivery.
  • Develop and utilize instructional aids, including videos, demonstrations, multimedia presentations, computer-based tutorials, and reference materials.
  • Organize and facilitate webinars, training events, speaker engagements, and in-person learning sessions.
  • Provide individualized support through coaching sessions, one-on-one training, and performance development discussions.
  • Serve as a resource to employees by answering questions related to learning programs, training resources, and department initiatives.
  • Travel to branch locations to deliver onsite training, support employee development, and recognize performance achievements.
  • Ensure all training materials remain current and compliant with applicable bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain training-related system access and user IDs for employees participating in training activities.
  • Complies with all applicable state and federal banking laws, regulations, and internal policies related but not limited to lending, operations, and deposit requirements, including Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Anti-Money Laundering (AML) requirements, Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations, Customer Identification Program (CIP) requirements, Financial Elder Abuse reporting laws, Sexual Harassment prevention policies, information security and privacy requirements.
