About The Position

This is a student learner position. The student will be paired with a tenured machine tool operator and trained in operating machine tools, including boring mills and lathes. Training covers industrial safety, drawing interpretation, preparing and aligning workpieces, operating and setting up equipment, checking finished work, reporting issues, and maintaining the work area.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in vocational education.
• Basic math skills.
• Ability to use measurement tools.
• Basic understanding of machine tools.
• Physical capability to individually perform required key result items.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety protocols and contribute to a safety culture in an industrial manufacturing environment.
• Interpret drawings.
• Load material into the machine using a crane, position it, and clamp it.
• Manually align the workpiece and spindle.
• Set readout dials to position, insert tools, and activate cycles.
• Change tooling.
• Check the first piece.
• Operate a mill.
• Select the proper speed and setup.
• Unload finished pieces.
• Report errors, defective material, or faulty equipment using the appropriate method.
• Grind tools if required.
• Lubricate machines.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
