About The Position

The intern will collaborate closely with the Flight Deck Leader in eliminating process waste, optimizing workflows, and improving operational efficiency. In addition to team-based efforts, the role will include individual assignments designed to provide hands-on, real-world experience in applying Lean within an aerospace manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data analysis) and diagramming software like Microsoft Visio or Lucidchart.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse, cross-functional teams.
  • US Citizen or Green Card Holder.

Nice To Haves

  • Basic understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating Value Stream Maps (VSM) and detailed process flowcharts to visualize material and information flows.
  • Conduct time studies, track cycle times, and analyze operational metrics such as production rate attainment and scrap rates.
  • Participate in and audit 5S initiatives (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) across shop floors or office spaces.
  • Support problem-solving efforts using tools like the 5 Whys and Fishbone Diagrams to diagnose process inefficiencies.
  • Assist in preparing, documenting, and tracking action items for rapid improvement (Kaizen) events.
  • Help draft and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to lock in process improvements.
  • Other job duties as assigned.
