Requirements

  • 1+ years in operations, events, or a customer-facing role where quality was the standard.
  • Reliable access to transportation sufficient to transport brand fixtures and equipment to the league venue.
  • A track record of making people feel genuinely well taken care of.
  • Availability for evenings and weekends.
  • Communication that is fast, clear, and professional.
  • Genuine love for basketball and its culture.
  • Must operate as a self-employed individual and be responsible for own tax remittances and HST obligations.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in premium sports, hospitality, or client-driven service environments.
  • Network in Calgary's basketball or rec sports community.
  • Experience playing in or captaining a competitive rec league.
  • Experience managing vendors, facilities, or partner relationships.
  • Previous experience in sports operations, event management, or a leadership role.

Responsibilities

  • Build and manage an airtight season schedule across all divisions, gyms, and time slots.
  • Own team placement, division balancing, and captain onboarding.
  • Run game nights at a premium standard, ensuring proper setup and efficient operations.
  • Manage standings, stats, and weekly results with accuracy and speed.
  • Execute playoffs and championship events.
  • Serve as the highest-quality point of contact for captains, responding quickly and ensuring follow-through.
  • Anticipate and resolve issues before captains notice them.
  • Implement retention strategies to ensure high team re-signing rates.
  • Hold gym partners to high standards and manage court time effectively.
  • Ensure game nights reflect positively on the brand.
  • Track registrations, capacity, and team health weekly.
  • Identify and address potential issues proactively.
  • Provide clear and accurate updates to leadership.
