About The Position

The Lead position helps oversee daily operations within the railyard, coordinating team efforts to maintain railcar integrity, safety, and adherence to timelines.
Requirements
- Must meet all physical requirements and be able to follow directions.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
- Basic analytical and quantitative skills with the ability to solve problems.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate in English fluently and professionally.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Must be on feet 66%-100% of the time
- Frequent need to perform physical activities such as bending, stooping, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions for extended periods of time.
- Constantly observe areas that need attention/correction.
- Ability to differentiate common railroad signaling colors (red, green, yellow, and blue).
- Must be able to hear things clearly and receive verbal instructions.
- Constant need to verbally communicate with staff, partners, and vendors.
- Lifting/Carrying 25-75 lbs. occasionally (1%-50% of the time)
- Assistance available for lifting over 50 lbs.
- High school diploma required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in railcar maintenance and leadership
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to troubleshoot and make decisions
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience in railcar inspection, maintenance, or a related field preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform repairs and maintenance to all types of railcars
- Help manage workflow and assign tasks to team members as needed
- Ensuring team compliance with safety and operational standards
- Participate in all team meetings
- Monitoring progress and providing guidance to team members
- Communicating with supervisors and team members regarding goals and obstacles
- Help oversee the day-to-day activities of the railcar maintenance team
- Train new team members and provide ongoing coaching
- Perform quality checks to ensure work meets AAR and company standards
- Conduct safety checks and participate in safety meetings
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of daily operations
- Coordinate with supervisors to optimize efficiency and resource allocation
- Assist in special projects as assigned
