About The Position

WSP is seeking an experienced operations and technical lead for its Property & Buildings team in Minneapolis, MN. This high-impact leadership role will focus on growing the P&B team, particularly in complex market sectors such as healthcare, commercial, mission critical, industrial, higher education, and science and technology. The position involves managing the local strategic plan, overseeing project and office financial performance, driving technical excellence, leading multidisciplinary design teams, managing complex projects, and championing client relationships. A key aspect of this role is developing people and shaping the future of the office and practice, with significant involvement in strategic planning to grow the practice and enhance project management and business development activities. This role is suited for accomplished engineers with strong strategic thinking, an entrepreneurial spirit, and collaborative leadership skills within a global firm focused on innovation and growth.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural Engineering
  • 12+ years of experience in design, including leadership roles
  • Proven track record in business development and client engagement within the property and buildings sector
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • High level of self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities in a dynamic work environment

Nice To Haves

  • PE license preferred
  • At least 10+ years of Project Management experience
  • Experience in Quality Assurance reviews and maintaining a high level of quality deliverables to clients

Responsibilities

  • Drive the performance of the business.
  • Build and sustain trusted client relationships, serving as the "face of the company" locally and regionally.
  • Lead and manage business development initiatives, including RFQs and RFPs, compiling scopes of work, and preparing fee estimates.
  • Proactively manage, track, analyze, and report on actual performance against plan, including cost and schedule reporting.
  • Address change management matters promptly and professionally.
  • Represent the firm at client and industry events to promote intelligence gathering and pipeline development.
  • Utilize the firm's extended reach of technical and subject matter experts to foster innovative client delivery.
  • Manage local client coordination and cross-selling efforts.
  • Lead client meetings, present technical solutions, and develop project scopes and proposals.
  • Identify opportunities for practice growth and differentiation.
  • Work with local office leads to attract talent by fostering a collaborative, inclusive work environment that encourages creative thinking.
  • Emphasize employee training and development.
  • Inspire, motivate, and promote WSP's values to ensure strong employee engagement and morale.
  • Support programs such as Safety, Sustainability, and Ethics & Compliance.
  • Optimize client and employee experience through regular reviews and process improvement.
  • Focus on innovation and collaboration while maintaining and improving quality.
  • Develop local growth, forecast, and business development strategy in collaboration with District, Region, and National Business Line Leaders.
  • Resolve conflicts and other internal/external issues.
  • Collaborate with regional, district, and area leaders to strategically drive the business, assess project performance, oversee overhead expenditures, and focus on KPIs.
  • Leverage broad technical experience to enhance service offerings.
  • Foster the development of new and emerging innovations.
  • Advance the region's strategic direction for sustained growth.
  • Encourage, support, and promote the technical and professional development of local WSP staff.
