Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) major. Degree must be obtained by start date.
  • Willing and able to operationally relocate to various RTX geographic locations across the United States for three distinct 8-month assignments.
  • Relevant internship/co-op or work experience within an engineering, manufacturing, or technology environment.
  • Experience or coursework utilizing programming languages or engineering tools, such as Python, C++, MATLAB, Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) frameworks, or Computer-Aided Design/Finite Element Analysis (CAD/FEA) tools (e.g., SOLIDWORKS, ANSYS).
  • Experience or academic coursework in one or more core systems engineering functional areas, including system architecture definition, system integration frameworks, testing and validation methodologies, or system performance optimization.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop structured engineering documentation, test procedures, or configuration control artifacts.

  • Practical exposure to hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, systems integration laboratories (SIL), or system-level test environments.
  • Hands-on experience or academic exposure to specialized aerospace systems, including propulsion, flight controls, avionics, datalinks, or sensing technologies.
  • Prior experience as an engineering intern or co-op within an RTX business unit (Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, or Raytheon).

Responsibilities

  • Complete three 8-month rotational assignments across various U.S. locations, adapting quickly to new technology centers, business units, and systems engineering teams.
  • Execute core engineering milestones within one or more specialized program areas, including system architecture, system integration, testing and validation, and performance optimization.
  • Stretch your technical capabilities by taking ownership of frontline, hands-on project deliverables and system analyses.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware, software, and program management teams to define system requirements and optimize operational architectures.
  • Present technical reviews, test results, and strategic engineering data clearly and effectively to diverse stakeholders and leadership teams.
