About The Position

To assist the Cell Leader in managing the team’s daily tasks to meet required production schedules. Performs all work efficiently and meets the company’s established procedures, quality standards, safety standards and best practice.

  • Must be able to make minor repairs to machinery.

  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand for 85% of time.
  • Must be able to work overtime, all shifts, and weekends if necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily and weekly scheduling of team members to complete daily lay-up tasks which may include assigning individuals to different product teams.
  • Works closely with Department Manager to maintain daily and weekly production schedule for the lay up area.
  • Works closely with Manufacturing Manager to monitor team performance of schedule adherence and established policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the daily activities of the team in manager’s absence.
  • When needed, performs lay-up manufacturing tasks using a variety of industrial equipment.
  • Assists in controlling the inventory of other consumable materials used in layup room.
  • Assists the Cell Leader in maintaining freezer inventory levels of prepreg material, film adhesives and other materials used in lay-up procedures.
  • Assists in new and ongoing training of team members.
  • Participates in regular meetings with team to elicit ideas for process improvements, cost reduction and problem solving.
  • Assists in managing the organization and daily cleaning of the lay-up work area and the regular preventative maintenance of all associated equipment including the storage and maintenance of mold tools.
  • Assists the Cell Leader in scheduling autoclave cure cycles in liaison with other Team Managers to meet the overall company’s needs.
  • Works with Lay Up Area Team members, purchasing, engineering, quality control and other manufacturing teams to identify and implement improvements in plant safety, process improvement, and product quality.
  • Corrects unsafe work situations and near misses immediately and seek assistance if needed.
  • Assists in coordinating the team’s activities with other manufacturing and business teams where necessary to achieve Vermont Composites overall company goals.
  • Puts company goals ahead of team goals when resolving issues.
  • Performs job duties safely with goal of no accidents or injuries to self or others.
  • Reports problems and concerns to Manufacturing Manager or appropriate individual.
  • Follows all of Vermont Composite’s policies, procedures and rules.
  • Performs other duties in response to manufacturing/organizational needs.
