About The Position

The Production Shift Leader is responsible for leading day-to-day manufacturing operations within the Fairfax Assembly Plant to support safe, high-quality, and efficient vehicle production. This role provides direct leadership to hourly and salaried teams, drives accountability to business plan targets, and supports a culture of safety, teamwork, responsiveness, and continuous improvement. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a strong floor presence, support production needs in real time, and lead problem solving to ensure the team meets safety, quality, cost, and throughput objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent manufacturing leadership experience
  • Experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a fast-paced, high-accountability production setting
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills
  • Proven problem-solving ability with a focus on root cause identification and countermeasure implementation
  • Ability to work off-shift, weekends, and overtime as required to support business needs
  • Strong working knowledge of safety, quality, and production systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard manufacturing business systems

  • Experience with standardized work, layered audits, business plan deployment, and continuous improvement systems
  • Experience leading quality containment, defect reduction, and escalation processes
  • Familiarity with labor relations practices, attendance administration, and workforce planning

Responsibilities

  • Lead shift operations within a manufacturing department to support daily production requirements, manpower placement, and operational stability
  • Drive a strong safety culture through floor presence, safety observations, incident follow-up, hazard identification, and adherence to workplace safety processes
  • Lead and coach team members and group leaders to improve engagement, accountability, development, and performance
  • Respond to production, quality, and people issues in real time and escalate concerns appropriately
  • Support quality execution through layered audits, defect review, process confirmation, alarm escalation, and corrective action follow-up
  • Participate in and/or lead daily operating meetings, shift startup reviews, 5F reviews, business plan deployment reviews, and end-of-shift reporting
  • Monitor key plant and shop performance indicators and take action to address gaps in safety, quality, responsiveness, and cost
  • Partner cross-functionally with manufacturing engineering, quality, maintenance, labor relations, HR, and other support teams to resolve issues and improve performance
  • Coach the organization in standardized work, practical problem solving, built-in quality, and continuous improvement methods
  • Support staffing, attendance, overtime management, employee relations, recognition, and team communication processes
