About The Position

Garden Oaks Veterinary Center is expanding, and we're looking for an experienced Lead Veterinary Technician to join our dedicated team. Working from our modern 5,500-square-foot hospital, you'll have the opportunity to practice high-quality medicine while helping lead and support a talented team of veterinary professionals. The Lead Veterinary Technician will play an important role in day-to-day technician operations, team development, patient care, and clinical efficiency. This is a great opportunity for an experienced technician who enjoys mentoring others, taking initiative, and helping create a positive, organized, and high-performing hospital environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of veterinary technician experience in a clinical setting
  • Strong experience with anesthesia monitoring, venipuncture, catheter placement, surgery, dentistry, and patient care
  • Strong clinical judgment and critical-thinking skills
  • Ability to confidently prioritize and delegate in a busy hospital
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • A positive, dependable, and team-oriented leadership style
  • A passion for mentoring and helping others grow
  • Commitment to exceptional patient and client care

Nice To Haves

  • Previous lead, supervisory, mentoring, or training experience preferred
  • LVT credential preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a clinical leader and resource for the veterinary technician team
  • Mentor, train, and support technicians and veterinary assistants
  • Help ensure consistent patient care and adherence to hospital protocols
  • Partner closely with veterinarians and the Practice Manager to support daily hospital operations
  • Assist with exams, diagnostics, treatments, surgeries, and dental procedures
  • Monitor anesthesia and provide attentive patient recovery care
  • Place IV catheters and perform venipuncture
  • Collect and process laboratory samples
  • Take high-quality digital radiographs
  • Provide nursing care for hospitalized patients
  • Educate pet owners on medications, home care, and preventive health
  • Help coordinate technician workflow and appropriately delegate responsibilities
  • Support onboarding and training of new team members
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and efficient treatment area
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflow, patient care, and team efficiency

  • Lead by example and help maintain high standards of patient and client care
