About The Position

The Vet Technician plays a critical role in supporting veterinarians by providing high-quality medical care to animals in a clinical setting. This position involves assisting with diagnostic tests, administering treatments, and monitoring patient progress to ensure optimal health outcomes. The Vet Technician will also be responsible for educating pet owners on proper animal care and post-treatment instructions, fostering a compassionate and informative environment. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team, the Vet Technician ensures that all procedures comply with safety and ethical standards. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the well-being of animals and the smooth operation of the veterinary practice. The Vet tech will be working closely along side our Doctors and clients in exam rooms.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of animal anatomy, physiology, and common medical conditions.
• Experience handling and restraining animals safely and humanely.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with veterinarians, staff, and pet owners.
• The Vet Technician utilizes technical skills daily to perform diagnostic tests, administer treatments, and assist in surgical procedures, ensuring animal safety and comfort.
• Strong interpersonal skills are essential for educating pet owners and collaborating with veterinarians and support staff to deliver comprehensive care.
• Attention to detail is critical when maintaining medical records and monitoring patient progress to detect subtle changes in health status.
• Problem-solving abilities help the technician respond effectively to emergencies and adapt to the dynamic needs of the clinical environment.
• Proficiency with veterinary software enhances efficiency in managing patient information and scheduling.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal hospital setting.
• Advanced certifications such as VTS (Veterinary Technician Specialist) in emergency care, anesthesia, or dentistry.
• Familiarity with veterinary practice management software and electronic medical records.
• Ability to perform radiographic imaging and interpret basic diagnostic results.
• Continuing education in animal behavior, nutrition, or specialized medical treatments.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and medical procedures by preparing equipment and restraining animals safely.
• Perform routine laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and fecal exams to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
• Administer medications, vaccinations, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian, while monitoring patient responses.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for each patient, documenting treatments, observations, and progress.
• Educate pet owners on animal health, nutrition, and post-operative care to promote recovery and prevent illness.
• Manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure cleanliness and sterilization of instruments and work areas.
• Monitor hospitalized animals, providing supportive care and reporting any changes in condition promptly to the veterinary team.
