Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, VMD) or equivalent.
- Active State license in good standing, DEA license, and other required state credentials.
- 5+ years of experience in general medicine and surgery.
- 1-3 years of leadership experience.
- Comfortable collaborating with other veterinary professionals in a team-oriented environment.
- Passionate about helping people and pets with empathy and excellent customer service.
- Ability to multi-task and perform well in a fast-paced, self-starter environment.
Nice To Haves
- 2 years of supervised experience with veterinary radiation machines preferred.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a leader for the practice’s veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and assistants, setting the standard for high-level veterinary medical care.
- Embody the Chewy Vet Care culture, fostering collaboration and delivering an outstanding pet parent experience.
- Hold team members accountable for results by being available, removing obstacles, facilitating change, and providing mentorship and feedback.
- Implement policies and procedures, utilize integrated technology, and deliver consistent and appropriate medical care.
- Perform physical examinations and diagnostic, medical, surgical, and dental procedures, minimizing patient stress and discomfort.
- Perform advanced surgeries and manage complicated cases.
- Communicate diagnoses and treatment plans to clients, explaining examination findings.
- Maintain accurate client/patient medical and surgical records and ensure all logs are up-to-date.
- Assist colleagues with patient follow-up and future management.
- Stay current with new medical information and advancements in veterinary medicine, attending continuing education meetings.
- Lead, manage, develop, and mentor associate veterinarians to improve performance in client satisfaction, teamwork, medical quality, record keeping, and efficiency.
- Assist in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure high-quality care and client service.
- Oversee operating, safety, and compliance procedures according to applicable law and Chewy Vet Care policies.
- Potentially travel for position-related activities.
