Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree (DVM, VMD) or equivalent.
  • Active State license in good standing, DEA license, and other required state credentials.
  • 5+ years of experience in general medicine and surgery.
  • 1-3 years of leadership experience.
  • Comfortable collaborating with other veterinary professionals in a team-oriented environment.
  • Passionate about helping people and pets with empathy and excellent customer service.
  • Ability to multi-task and perform well in a fast-paced, self-starter environment.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of supervised experience with veterinary radiation machines preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a leader for the practice’s veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and assistants, setting the standard for high-level veterinary medical care.
  • Embody the Chewy Vet Care culture, fostering collaboration and delivering an outstanding pet parent experience.
  • Hold team members accountable for results by being available, removing obstacles, facilitating change, and providing mentorship and feedback.
  • Implement policies and procedures, utilize integrated technology, and deliver consistent and appropriate medical care.
  • Perform physical examinations and diagnostic, medical, surgical, and dental procedures, minimizing patient stress and discomfort.
  • Perform advanced surgeries and manage complicated cases.
  • Communicate diagnoses and treatment plans to clients, explaining examination findings.
  • Maintain accurate client/patient medical and surgical records and ensure all logs are up-to-date.
  • Assist colleagues with patient follow-up and future management.
  • Stay current with new medical information and advancements in veterinary medicine, attending continuing education meetings.
  • Lead, manage, develop, and mentor associate veterinarians to improve performance in client satisfaction, teamwork, medical quality, record keeping, and efficiency.
  • Assist in the development of the paraprofessional team to ensure high-quality care and client service.
  • Oversee operating, safety, and compliance procedures according to applicable law and Chewy Vet Care policies.
  • Potentially travel for position-related activities.
