About The Position

The Lead Transmission Line Engineer 2 designs transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range and supports the technical quality and coordination of transmission design work. The role includes mentoring less experienced team members, coordinating design activities to meet specifications, codes, and client requirements, and preparing clear technical reports and studies. The engineer also independently reviews calculations, drawings, and transmission line models developed in PLS-CADD, and follows Sargent & Lundy's System of Processes.

The position offers a hybrid work arrangement from the future Knoxville office, with an expectation of three days per week in the office and two days working remotely. Sargent & Lundy does not sponsor U.S. work authorization for this position.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 12 or more years of transmission design experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience preparing scopes of work, developing conceptual designs, determining design bases, selecting equipment and materials, and preparing and assembling calculations and specifications.
• Experience working directly with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 500kV.
• Knowledge of engineering standards, including NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE, and ANSI.
• Experience reviewing design drawings created by others.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
• Mentor and train less experienced design team members.
• Coordinate design activities to ensure installation and operations comply with specifications, codes, and client requirements.
• Prepare reports and studies that present technical information clearly and concisely and meet client requirements and S&L formats.
• Independently review work performed by others, including calculations, drawing preparation, and transmission line models based in PLS-CADD.
• Adhere to Sargent & Lundy's System of Processes.
