About The Position

Sargent & Lundy is hiring a Lead Transmission Line Engineer 2 to design transmission lines ranging from 69kV to 765kV. The role includes mentoring and training less experienced design team members, coordinating design activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements, and preparing technical reports and studies that meet client requirements and S&L formats. The engineer will independently review others’ calculations, drawings, and transmission line models developed in PLS-CADD, and will adhere to Sargent & Lundy's System of Processes.

The position follows a hybrid work schedule and requires in-office work three days per week. Sargent & Lundy does not sponsor U.S. work authorization for this position. Employees may use data, automation, artificial intelligence, and other digital tools where relevant, while remaining accountable for their work and applying appropriate professional judgment and review.

Requirements

• BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• 12 years of transmission design experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD software.
• Experience preparing scopes of work, developing conceptual designs, determining design basis, selecting equipment and materials, and preparing and assembling calculations and specifications.
• Experience working directly with clients on transmission lines from 69kV through 500kV.
• Knowledge of engineering standards including NESC, IEC, ASCE, ACI, IEEE, and ANSI.
• Experience reviewing design drawings created by others.

Nice To Haves

• PE license.

• Experience with AI, automation, programming, or similar technologies where relevant to the role.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.

• Prepare reports and studies that present technical information clearly and concisely and meet client requirements and S&L formats.
• Perform independent reviews of others’ calculations, drawing preparation, and transmission line models based in PLS-CADD.
