Lead Test Engineer
About The Position
VTG is seeking a Lead Test Engineer to support our customer. This role involves being a subject matter expert providing testing expertise for user requirements of complex to highly complex software/hardware applications. The Lead Test Engineer will direct and/or participate in all phases of risk management assessments and software/hardware development, with an emphasis on analysis of user requirements, test design, and test tools selection. Responsibilities include ensuring test design and documentation meet applicable standards, timelines, and budgets, and that testing conclusions are supported by results. The role also involves informing project managers of testing status and deviations from user requirements. The Lead Test Engineer will plan and administer environmental, operational, or performance tests on various types of equipment and systems, and design and direct personnel in the fabrication of testing apparatus. This position requires an understanding of both theories and principles, and excludes paraprofessional roles. Coordination and direction of engineering activities related to test instrumentation, equipment, and control devices are also key. The role involves determining test conditions and sequences, directing operational, functional, and performance testing, and conferring with technical personnel to resolve testing problems. Finally, the Lead Test Engineer will analyze and interpret test data and prepare technical reports.
Requirements
- BA/BS in a technical discipline
- At least 10 years of experience
- Must have and maintain a Secret clearance
- Eligible for a Top Secret clearance
Responsibilities
- Subject matter expert providing testing expertise for support of user requirements of complex to highly complex software/hardware applications.
- Directs and/or participates in all phases of risk management assessments and software/hardware development with emphasis on analysis of user requirements, test design and test selection.
- Responsible for ensuring that the test design and documentation support all applicable client, agency or industry standards time lines and budgets.
- Responsible for ensuring that testing conclusions and recommendations are fully supported by test results, and project managers are fully informed of testing status and application deviations from documented user requirements.
- Plans and administers environmental, operational, or performance tests on aeronautical, electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical, general industrial, experimental, automotive equipment, industrial machinery and equipment, controls, and systems, and other products and systems.
- Designs and directs engineering and technical personnel in fabrication of testing and test-control apparatus and equipment.
- Coordinates and directs engineering activities concerned with the development, procurement installation, and calibration of instruments, equipment, and control devices required to test, telemeter, record, and reduce test data.
- Determines conditions under which tests are to be conducted and sequences and phases of test operations.
- Directs and exercises control over operational, functional, and performance phases of tests.
- Confers with scientific, engineering, and technical personnel to resolve testing problems, such as product or systems malfunctions, incomplete test data, and data interpretations considering such factors as conditions under which test was conducted and instrumentation, procedures, and phase of test used to obtain and record data.
- Analyzes and interprets test data and prepares technical reports for use by engineering and management personnel.
