About the role Your mission will be to help lead our cross-trained technical art team in building, delivering, evaluating, and supporting art tools, workflows, and assets that enable artists and designers to integrate high-quality content and features efficiently into our games. As a Lead Technical Artist, you will combine a strong eye for art quality with deep knowledge of real-time graphics pipelines. You will act as a bridge between art and engineering, using strong communication skills to support cross-department problem solving. You will serve as a technical resource throughout production while continuously improving our content pipeline. The ideal candidate brings ideas, techniques, and experience with the latest technologies to help create world-class game content. Experience and creativity in analytics, performance, communications and procedural workflows are important for this role. This position is based in our Montreal office and follows an in-office work model of four days per week. Working arrangements may evolve based on business needs.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Video game and proven experience in management
  • Proven experience with performance analysis in a game engine
  • Strong understanding of development constraints specific to video game environments
  • Strong interest in technical aspects, workflows and learning new tools
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to understand both artistic direction, while respecting engine constraints
  • Sensitivity to gameplay, ensuring suggested changes align with objectives, pacing, and player experience
  • Ability to turn changes and iterations into improvement opportunities through a solution-oriented approach
  • A high French proficiency and an intermediate-to-advanced proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is required. This requirement is necessary to communicate with art centers of expertise and other corporate functions based in the United States, collaborate with teams and studios around the world, and interact with the parent company and its leadership team. This proficiency is essential to ensure effective collaboration, knowledge sharing, and alignment on technical, operational, and organizational priorities across global teams
  • Passion for video games

  • Python, procedural knowledge(Houdini, Blender, etc), scripting, tools creation
  • Experience with continuous-delivery game pipelines

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a team of cross-trained technical artist across different mandates.
  • Ensure that deliverables are completed in accordance with the production schedule.
  • Proactively identify problems, propose solutions and work fluidly with other team members.
  • Maintain a balance between visual quality and performance requirements.
  • Collaborate with all teams involved in map creation, from animation to production.
  • Collaborate with Programmers to integrate new lighting techniques into the engine
