About The Position

NBCUniversal is seeking a Lead Artist (Procedural) to spearhead the creation of procedurally generated content, including vegetation, organic assets, and architectural facade kits, for an ambitious interactive project set in a contemporary real-life urban environment. This role is responsible for overseeing the creation of content assets used by procedural tools, enabling the creation of large-scale environments with consistency and visual fidelity. Reporting to the Associate Art Director – Environment, the Lead Artist (Procedural) will work closely with Tech Art teams, Houdini specialists, and cross-functional teams to ensure that procedural systems support the artistic vision and production constraints. The role includes managing a team of artists creating assets used by procedural systems and serving as a key liaison between art and technical teams to ensure scalable solutions from high-end to mobile.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in AAA game development with a focus on procedural asset content creation or environment systems.
  • Proven experience leading and managing a team of artists or technical artists.
  • Experience contributing to at least one shipped AAA title.
  • Strong expertise in procedural workflows, systems design, and content scalability.
  • Experience with tools such as Houdini or similar procedural systems.
  • Solid understanding of real-time pipelines and environment production workflows.
  • Experience working on large-scale environments or open-world productions.
  • Excellent collaboration, leadership, and communication skills.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada.

  • Experience building scalable tools and systems for large-scale asset content creation.

  • Experience working with Unreal Engine pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Translate artistic direction into scalable asset creation used by procedural systems to support natural environment setting and Building generation
  • Drive the development of the assets (building facades and vegetations) feeding the procedural workflows for large-scale world building.
  • Lead and manage the procedural art team, providing mentorship, feedback, and direction.
  • Design and maintain pipelines for asset content with a strong focus on scalability and consistency.
  • Collaborate closely with Houdini, Tech Art, Environment, and Production teams.
  • Act as a bridge between artistic vision and technical implementation of procedural pipelines.
  • Optimize assets creation workflows for efficiency and scalability from high-end to mobile platforms.
  • Support production planning, milestone readiness, and pipeline improvements.
  • Maintain visibility on quality, risks, and challenges across procedural systems and content.
