About The Position

The Lead Teacher shapes the early learning experiences of young children by planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities that support their social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. The role reports to the Early Learning Director or Assistant Director and uses creativity and collaboration to provide meaningful classroom experiences. The teacher plans and supervises classroom programs aligned with YMCA goals and standards, uses the Creative Curriculum to support learning through purposeful play, establishes engaging daily routines, and maintains a safe, welcoming classroom aligned with YMCA and NAEYC guidelines. The position also involves communicating with families, colleagues, and educational partners.

Requirements

Be at least 20 years of age.
Hold a CDA, AA, BA, or BS in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
Have current CPR and First Aid certification.
Have a physical exam and TB test.
Meet county and state licensing and background requirements.
Have three years of experience working with children and one year of teaching experience in a licensed center.
Have a positive, collaborative, and creative attitude.

Responsibilities

Plan, supervise, and implement classroom programs aligned with YMCA goals and standards.
Create and deliver developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
Use the Creative Curriculum to support learning through purposeful play.
Design daily routines that make education fun, engaging, and meaningful.
Ensure a safe environment and monitor children closely at all times.
Communicate effectively with families, colleagues, and educational partners.
Maintain a warm, welcoming, and visually engaging classroom aligned with YMCA and NAEYC guidelines.
