About The Position

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is hiring a Facility Housekeeping Technician for its Alexandria facility. The position supports facility cleanliness and maintenance, including the men’s locker room and other areas of the building, helping keep the YMCA clean and inviting for participants. The technician also assists with event setup and laundry as needed and responds to housekeeping emergencies. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The posting lists salaries of $14.50 per hour and $15.00 per hour in separate descriptions.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year of relevant experience.
• Ability to work independently and maintain a high level of performance.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment such as vacuums and buffers.
• Knowledge of cleaning chemical capabilities, mixing proportions, and use.
• Knowledge of maintenance and care of finished surfaces.

Responsibilities

• Keep assigned areas, including the men’s locker room, clean and clear for YMCA participants.
• Perform cleaning activities such as sweeping and mopping.
• Assist with setup for meetings and special events.
• Monitor and maintain cleaning storage rooms, offices, kitchen, and bathrooms.
• Assist with laundry functions as needed.
• Respond to accidents, spills, and other housekeeping emergencies.
• Maintain cleaning chemical storage rooms and bulk trash storage areas.
