About The Position

The YMCA of Greater Erie is hiring Lead Teachers for their childcare program. This role is ideal for individuals who are creative, energetic, and passionate about working with children, and who prefer to have weekends free. The position involves supporting the Child Care Program Director in creating a positive and enriching environment for children, supervising and guiding them, and serving as a role model. The Lead Teacher will plan and implement engaging curriculum with the assistance of an Assistant Teacher, while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and YMCA standards.

Requirements

• At least 18 years old.
• Associate Degree in a related field with 30 ECE credits and 2500 hours of experience; OR Any unrelated Associate/Bachelor's Degree with 30 ECE credits and 3750 hours of experience; OR Bachelor's Degree in a related field with 30 ECE credits and 1250 hours of experience; OR Master's Degree in a related field with 30 ECE credits.
• Pass Pennsylvania state mandated Title 33, Title 34 and FBI background checks.
• Pass a physical exam.
• Have a negative TB test.
• Complete a minimum of 6 hours of training annually.
• Passion for working with children, patience, and a love for interactive activities like reading and singing.
• Solid understanding of child development.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute daily lesson plans and activities based on child development principles.
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom and keep accurate records.
• Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations.
• Act as a liaison with parents, assisting with enrollment and ongoing communication.
• Attend family events and program activities with enthusiasm.
