About The Position

The purpose of this role is to lead the execution of tax accounting, reporting, compliance, and transaction support for QBE North America and QBE Capital. This role is accountable for turning complex tax and financial data into accurate, timely deliverables across quarterly provision, statutory reporting, federal and state income tax compliance, tax audits, controls, and legal entity activity. Leverage tax systems, automation, offshore resources, and cross functional partnerships to strengthen controls, standardize processes, and improve delivery quality. This role provides technical direction and review to internal and offshore team members and is expected to operate with ownership, judgement, and limited supervision.

  • Experience with insurance tax reporting, statutory tax accounting, Subchapter L, SSAP 101, ASC 740, consolidated federal returns, state income tax reporting, tax accounting controls, and legal entity separate reporting for captives and cells
  • Experience supporting acquisitions, dispositions, restructuring, tax due diligence, tax basis analysis, and post-close integration
  • Appropriately prioritize assigned tasks to ensure timely goal achievement; ability to independently manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Create and maintain current, accurate and readily accessible data in various formats, as needed to facilitate systems processes and internal and external reporting to key stakeholders
  • Monitor short and long-term impact of contributions and ensure accuracy and adherence to long-term goals
  • Implement automated dashboards and summary reports to provide access to critical system information to management
  • Detail-oriented with high degree of financial acumen and awareness of financial responsibility
  • Ability to analyze information, draw conclusions, and use logic to address work-related issues and problems
  • Influence and collaborate with people at different levels within the organization to accomplish a common goal
  • Experience working in a hybrid collaborative cross-functional team environment
  • Proven ability to adapt to and drive process improvements through the use of digital tools and emerging technologies.
  • Master's Degree
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Admitted to the Bar, JD, LLM - Tax
  • Knowledge of P&C insurance tax principles, including Subchapter L, statutory reporting, admitted deferred tax assets, and insurance company compliance concepts
  • Knowledge of tax accounting principles under ASC 740 and SSAP 101, including the U.S. Corporate Alternative Minimum Tax and Transaction Tax
  • Knowledge of Bermuda Corporate Income Tax and Foreign Tax Credit Accounting
  • Advanced knowledge of international, federal, and state tax regulations, compliance, tax accounting controls, and audit support
  • Advanced working knowledge of finance, accounting, and financial reporting principles
  • Knowledge of tax and accounting software including: Corptax Compliance and Provision, Oracle Fusion for General Ledger and Fixed Assets, Oracle Enterprise Performance Management, Oracle Tax Compliance and Reporting Solution, Data aggregation tools such as Agentic AI, Alteryx and Power BI, Clearwater, Smart View

Responsibilities

  • Prepare/review quarterly tax provisions, including tax reconciliations and tax calculations.
  • Prepare/review relevant local income tax returns, work papers, and calculations of quarterly estimates and extensions, and remit payments and forms to taxing authorities.
  • Analyze tax issues related to acquisitions or disposals, including structuring and due diligence.
  • Manage relevant tax authority audits.
  • Champion process improvement by evaluating current processes, identifying weaknesses, and implementing new procedures.
  • Support team member development by assisting with integration of new associates, sharing knowledge, and providing recommendations on best practices.
  • Advise on tax matters relating to operations, ensuring high-quality advice and guidance is given.
  • Maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, tax authorities, and auditors to ensure service delivery meets expectations.
  • Monitor tax legislation, regulations, and rulings, interpreting and communicating to ensure compliance and obligations are met.
