About The Position

The role of Senior Tax Accountant is to ensure compliance with its various tax obligations and to assist in developing a comprehensive tax strategy. We are a general line service center with special emphasis in the construction markets. Our roots are in Houston, but over the last 60 years our business has taken us throughout North America, Central and South America and Asia. From a small family retail operation, our business has grown to where we sell over 500,000 tons per year. But we haven't forgotten where we came from or that we're still a family business. While we may not know each customer by name our founding principles remain the same—we take care of our customers like family.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or Finance
• 3+ years of related experience
• In-depth knowledge of state and local reporting and tax requirements in a holding company environment.
• Excellent tax accounting and analytical skills.
• Highly Functional in Office (Advanced Excel Skills a must).
• Exposure to tax software such as Avalara
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task and properly execute multiple simultaneous assignments under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• CPA preferred but not required

Responsibilities

• Prepare the Yearly, Quarterly, and monthly filings for Sales and Use tax returns.
• Prepare the Yearly, Quarterly and Monthly filings of tangible and intangible property return.
• Assist in reviewing tax exempt certificates, tax audits, tax notices
• Work with outsource tax partner ensure all deadlines including annual reporting are met.
• Prepared property tax filings
• Reconciling income tax accounts and ensure the correct booking of tax payments, provisions, credits, etc. on the balance sheet and P&L
• Perform all other duties as assigned
• Work on special projects
