About The Position

The Boeing Company’s Boeing Defense, Space & Security organization is seeking a Level 4 Lead Systems Engineer to support Space Battle Management, Command and Control (SBMC2) programs in Colorado Springs, Colorado, or Berkeley, Missouri. The engineer will work on a high-performing team to help develop and deliver software solutions in an agile development environment, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, including a Joint Industry Partnership Team and working groups. The role contributes to the design and development of next-generation ground command and control capabilities.

The engineer will contribute across the development lifecycle, from idea creation and development through maintenance and support of delivered customer systems. The role also involves technical analysis, requirements and interface definition, customer interaction, trade studies, and coordination across multiple technical disciplines. Travel may be required up to 10% of the time, domestically or internationally, depending on business needs. An active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance is required; U.S. citizenship is required for the clearance.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (including manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
• At least 9 years of work-related engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of experience working on a software development effort, supporting products from inception through delivery and operation across the full product lifecycle.
• Experience with an interface standard; Open Mission Systems (OMS), Universal Command and Control Interface (UCI), or open architecture standards are preferred examples.
• Experience with Agile development.
• Active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance; U.S. citizenship is required for the clearance.
• Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements as a U.S. Person.
• Must satisfy the Company’s Conflict of Interest assessment process.

Nice To Haves

• Satellite operations experience.
• Familiarity with Space Domain Awareness.
• Basic modeling skills with SysML, Enterprise Architect, or UML.
• Knowledge of the space mission domain, including launch vehicles, space systems, mission and space vehicle command and control, specialized mission payloads, system integration, and interoperability.

Responsibilities

• Support the definition of requirements, interfaces, and concepts of operations, including supporting or chairing working-group meetings.
• Understand and communicate effort priorities to a multidisciplinary team.
• Evaluate technical details while maintaining an abstract, big-picture perspective.
• Perform technical analyses to develop and validate models of system behavior and identify solutions to complex problems.
• Serve as a direct interface to internal and external customers.
• Conduct and support trade studies.
• Communicate across functional groups, including software, DevSecOps, hardware, cybersecurity, IT/infrastructure, networking, and mission engineering.
• Work in an industry consortium with diverse viewpoints.
• Contribute to the development lifecycle from idea creation through maintenance and support of delivered systems.
