About The Position

This role involves providing advanced analysis and troubleshooting of problems reported by the NOC, escalating issues as needed, and leading projects to completion. The technician will also provide technical support to staff, track project materials and status, and complete software upgrades. Key responsibilities include creating and maintaining technical documentation, supporting data center operations, network technicians, hosted voice, and network designs. The role is responsible for transport gear at cell sites, interpreting and executing corporate engineering designs, and collaborating with various teams and manufacturers to design circuits and resolve complex technical issues. A significant part of the role involves training local team members on transport systems and platforms.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 Years as a Telecommunication Technician
  • Willing to work after hours for maintenance windows and outages as needed
  • Participate in an on-call rotation
  • Requires sufficient emotional stability to work effectively under stressful conditions

  • Strong knowledge of fiber types, optical transceivers, OTDR, light meters, and scopes
  • Ciena 6500 DWDM, Optical Transport Network (OTN), and Ethernet Provisioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance
  • Enterprise Network equipment
  • Ciena 3924, Cisco ASR920,5501, Juniper, Meraki WAP
  • Electrical knowledge AC/DC, batteries, and UPS
  • Ability to delegate work and coordinate with contractors/electricians

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced analysis and troubleshooting of problems/issues reported by the NOC.
  • Escalate to the next level of authority in a timely manner while consistently addressing matters at hand.
  • Lead all projects to completion.
  • Provide staff with technical support.
  • Track materials and status of projects as required and report to Manager and Corporate Engineering.
  • Complete all software upgrades as needed and required.
  • Create and maintain appropriate technical documentation including necessary procedures for Change Management.
  • Support the 401 Data Center, Network Technicians, Hosted Voice, Network Designs needs.
  • Responsible for transport gear at all cell sites in the market.
  • Interpret, analyze, and execute corporate engineering designs.
  • Work closely with corporate engineering, IPD, other markets, and manufacturers to assist in designing circuits and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Aid in the training of local team members to get up to speed in Transport systems (Ciena & Cisco platforms, local Metaswitch, Fujitsu, HOVO etc).
