About The Position

Carroll Daniel Engineering is seeking an experienced Lead Structural Engineer to join our Food and Beverage dedicated staff. This role leads to the development of structural engineering solutions from early concepts through construction, collaborating closely with operations, preconstruction, architectural, and other engineering disciplines to ensure designs are practical, cost-effective, and aligned with project schedules. This position provides structural engineering leadership throughout the full project lifecycle—from design and construction through facility operations. The role carries overall responsibility for the management, coordination, and production of structural engineering design services. The F&B Lead Structural Engineer operates within the Structural Engineering Department but will exclusively serve the Food and Beverage Division.

  • 15+ years relevant structural engineering design experience.
  • Experienced in Design-Build and Progressive Design-Build Best Practices

  • Preparation of CSI specifications, SpecLink
  • Submittal review
  • S.E. / P.E. in Georgia, with capability of reciprocity to other states

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of industrial and/or Food & Beverage facility requirements preferred
  • Previous experience in food and beverage, freezer/cooler, controlled environment or industrial manufacturing facility projects is desirable.
  • Understanding of industrial/ process coordination preferred

Responsibilities

  • Engineer of Record for in-house structural design services
  • Provide structural engineering evaluations and designs for the repair and remediation of emergency conditions
  • Provide construction document production (drawings + specifications) as well as marketing material for project pursuits
  • Provide and deliver required deliverables for construction document milestones
  • Establish drafting templates and libraries for Design workflows
  • Support 5D / Model Based Estimating collaboration with Preconstruction
  • Design of varying structural systems including but not limited to concrete, masonry, wood, and steel for a wide range of building typologies such as industrial, educational, storage, office, and residential.
  • Support design-build project pursuits, including development of project scope, preparation of proposal deliverables, and participation in client presentations and interviews.
  • Coordinate with Preconstruction and Design to ensure the appropriate Budget is established, all design and preconstruction meetings are conducted, as required.
  • Work with Preconstruction to analyze alternative design options
  • Coordinate closely with architectural, MEP, refrigeration, and process engineering disciplines to develop integrated building solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with construction, estimating, and engineering teams to ensure design solutions are practical, buildable, and aligned with project budgets.
  • Review submitttsals, respond to RFIs, and support the team during the construction administration phase.
  • Mentor and support the development of junior engineers and designers.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of design standards, workflows, and technical practices within the organization.
