About The Position

This role ensures that surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment are inventoried, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, and traced throughout the hospital in a quality and timely manner. The technician works independently with little supervision, supervises others to ensure Sterile Processing tasks meet customer expectations, and trains, mentors, and develops colleagues. The role serves as a resource for Sterile Processing employees and customers and works extensively with Operating Room personnel to resolve problems.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• Three years of instrumentation experience in a hospital setting.
• One year of recent work experience in Central Sterile Processing.
• Certified Central Service Technician certification.
• Six months to one year in a lead or supervisory capacity.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently with little or no supervision.
• Able to work standing.

Nice To Haves

• Successful completion of a vocational program for Central Service.
• Knowledge of computerized instrument tracking systems.

Responsibilities

• Inventory, decontaminate, assemble, inspect, package, sterilize, and trace surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment throughout the hospital.
• Supervise others to ensure Sterile Processing tasks are completed to meet customer expectations.
• Train, mentor, and develop other employees.
• Serve as a resource to Sterile Processing employees and customers.
• Interact and problem-solve extensively with Operating Room personnel.
