About The Position
The Sr. Electrical Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, and delivery of electrical systems for onshore projects. This role leads technical design activities, performs power system studies, and ensures the quality and compliance of all electrical deliverables. The position collaborates closely with project teams, clients, and suppliers to support project execution, contribute to cost estimates and proposals, and provide technical guidance while driving efficient and innovative engineering solutions.
Requirements
- BSc, MSc or equivalent in Electrical Engineering is required.
- 10+ years of onshore project experience.
- Experience with the engineering and design of onshore oil & gas or energy facilities involving high / medium voltage power supply, transformers, motor drives, switchgear / MCC, power distribution, electrical panels, lighting, grounding etc.
- Possess good interpersonal skills and excellent verbal/written communication skills.
- Proficient with Smart Plant Electrical, SKM Power Tools, ETAP.
- Ability to lift and carry up to ten (10) pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively, including sufficient clarity of speech, hearing, or other communication capabilities.
- Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
- Sufficient visual acuity or other observational abilities to review documents, perform analysis, and conduct investigations.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to perform routine office tasks such as typing and using standard office equipment.
- Sufficient mobility to perform office duties and travel to off-site locations as needed.
- Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when visiting operational or field locations, as required by the safety department.
Nice To Haves
- NCEES P.E. License is preferred.
- Experience with Microsoft Project preferred.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) preferred.
Responsibilities
- Designs and develops single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams.
- Develops short circuit, load flow and arc flash documentation using ETAP, SKM, or other power system study software.
- Prepares electrical equipment specifications, data sheets, purchase requisitions and bid evaluations for drives, switchgear, transformers and other electrical equipment / materials as required.
- Conducts technical evaluation, evaluate equipment / material suitability and issue clarification of supplier bids - complete technical report to support order placement.
- Leads technical discussion, meetings with suppliers and clients.
- Reviews vendor documents.
- Responsible for quality control of all deliverables within the scope of the Electrical discipline.
- Interfaces with project management and Client and liaise with other project disciplines.
- Assists in preparation of power system cost estimates and defining scopes of work for project design and study proposals.
- Builds internal and external relationships with key suppliers, clients, and internal & external service providers or contractors.
- Works with electrical engineers, technologists and designers to provide electrical design and deliverables to a variety of projects.
- Prepares electrical designs, calculations and bills of material.
- Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the client.
- Develops designs that require innovation and ingenuity.
- Provides technical guidance to less experienced design and engineering personnel.
- Performs related duties, as needed.
