About The Position

Alpha Financial Markets Consulting is a global consultancy serving the financial services industry, with more than 1,180 consultants working across North America, the UK, Europe, the Middle East and APAC. The company supports client transformation across asset and wealth management, alternatives and insurance. Alpha describes its culture as collaborative, inclusive, meritocratic and focused on professional growth, with tailored training, mentorship, autonomy and exposure to senior leadership. The posting describes a primarily client-facing, billable Senior DevOps Architect role on the delivery team. The architect works directly with clients on cloud infrastructure and CI/CD engagements, primarily in Azure, with working exposure to AWS for dual-cloud or AWS-native environments. The role designs, builds and maintains CI/CD pipelines as code and uses Terraform to provision and manage infrastructure in client environments. The architect may be embedded in or advise client delivery teams, translating requirements into production-grade infrastructure and pipeline solutions and helping client engineers adopt these practices. In addition to client delivery, the role partners with senior engineering leadership to develop reusable DevOps patterns, reference architectures and Terraform modules.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in a DevOps, cloud infrastructure or Site Reliability Engineering role.
  • Strong hands-on Azure experience, including Azure DevOps, Resource Manager, networking, IAM, and core compute and storage services.
  • Working knowledge of AWS core services, including EC2, IAM, VPC and S3, sufficient to support or extend AWS infrastructure on cross-cloud work.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining Terraform for production infrastructure, including module design and remote state management.
  • Proven experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines from scratch.
  • Demonstrated ability to design reusable infrastructure and pipeline patterns for multiple clients or environments.
  • Scripting ability in at least one of Bash, Python or PowerShell.
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration using Docker and Kubernetes or AKS.
  • Working fluency across frontend, backend and infrastructure sufficient to support developers and troubleshoot issues beyond pipelines.
  • Understanding of infrastructure and pipeline security fundamentals, including secrets management and access control.
  • Hands-on use of Claude Code in day-to-day engineering work.
  • Comfort working directly with client teams in an agile delivery environment, including presenting to stakeholders and building trusted working relationships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions to technical and non-technical client audiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Azure certification, such as AZ-400, AZ-104 or AZ-305.
  • AWS certification at Solutions Architect Associate level or higher.
  • HashiCorp Terraform Associate certification.
  • Anthropic or Claude certification.
  • Experience with policy-as-code tools such as Sentinel, OPA or Azure Policy.
  • Experience integrating security scanning into pipelines, including SAST, dependency scanning and container scanning.
  • Prior consulting or client-facing delivery experience.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for client application and infrastructure delivery, primarily using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions according to client standards.
  • Write and maintain Terraform modules to provision and manage Azure infrastructure, with secondary support for AWS resources on cross-cloud engagements.
  • Manage infrastructure as code across client environments, including state management, module versioning and drift detection.
  • Automate build, test and deployment workflows to reduce manual release steps and shorten clients’ lead time to production.
  • Implement and advise on infrastructure security practices, including secrets management, least-privilege IAM and RBAC, and policy-as-code guardrails.
  • Monitor pipeline health and infrastructure reliability, and troubleshoot failures across build, deployment and runtime layers.
  • Collaborate with client development teams to containerize applications and integrate deployment pipelines with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or equivalent.
  • Support client developers across full-stack builds and troubleshoot issues spanning frontend, backend and infrastructure.
  • Document pipeline architecture, infrastructure patterns and runbooks for client operational handoff.
  • Mentor client engineers and junior team members on DevOps practices and Terraform standards.
  • Present technical approaches, infrastructure decisions and delivery progress to client stakeholders, and maintain day-to-day client relationships throughout engagements.
  • Partner with senior engineering leadership to develop reusable DevOps patterns, reference architectures and Terraform modules.
