About The Position

The Lead Social Services Worker serves as a lead worker, supervising and participating in the provision of social service assistance to eligible clients. Assistance may include food, lodging, clothing, furniture, and financial assistance. The role interviews clients to determine their needs and eligibility, prepares accurate and complete client records, refers clients to community agencies, maintains effective working relationships with those agencies, and ensures compliance with program policies and procedures. The position is located at 3629 S. US Hwy. 1, Fort Pierce. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years of experience coordinating or managing work in an office environment, preferably in the Social Services field, or an equivalent combination of training and experience providing the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Valid Florida driver's license.
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.
Ability to operate and answer a telephone.
Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.

Responsibilities

Assess client needs and eligibility and provide referrals as needed.
Process client assistance requests and related paperwork.
Assist with Food Stamps, Medicaid, and ACCESS applications.
Maintain client records and follow-up documentation.
Manage food pantry inventory, storage, and compliance.
Coordinate Food Bank orders and monthly reporting.
Interview clients to determine their needs and eligibility for services.
Refer clients to community agencies and maintain effective working relationships with them.
Ensure compliance with program policies and procedures.
Supervise and participate in the provision of social service assistance to eligible clients.
