Grocery Store Lead Security Officer - $24/hr
About The Position
The Lead Officer position helps maintain a safe and secure environment for our clients by providing lead direction to Security Officers at assigned client sites on assigned shifts. Observes and reports activities and incidents, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel. Preserves order and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises. The Lead Officer maintains the security and safety of the client site by supporting and providing their Security Officers clear guidance and leadership. Your primary responsibility is to provide a visible, professional deterrent to crime. You support Store Management and Asset Protection (AP) through observation, presence, and reporting — not enforcement.
Requirements
- Must wear a full agency-issued uniform at all times, with visible identification and insignia.
- Inclement weather outerwear must match uniform and display insignia.
- No weapons or restraints are permitted on Shaw’s / Star Market property, including firearms, tasers, stun guns, batons, nightsticks, impact weapons, pepper spray, mace, or chemical agents, handcuffs or restraints of any kind.
- Do not approach or question shoplifters or suspected shoplifters.
- Do not detain, chase, block, or touch any individual.
- Do not use physical force under any circumstances.
- Never risk injury to recover merchandise.

Responsibilities
- Provide lead direction to Security Officers at assigned client sites on assigned shifts.
- Observe and report activities and incidents, providing for the security and safety of client property and personnel.
- Preserve order and may act to enforce regulations and directives for the site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and premises.
- Provide a visible, professional deterrent to crime.
- Support Store Management and Asset Protection (AP) through observation, presence, and reporting.
- Observe and report suspicious activity.
- Provide backup support when requested by Management or AP.
- Assist when Management or AP asks individuals to leave the premises.
- Complete written incident reports per agency procedures.
- Disengage immediately if a situation escalates, and contact Store Management, AP, or law enforcement as directed.
