About The Position

The Security Officer position helps maintain a safe and secure environment for our clients by actively monitoring the premises, including patrolling a variety of locations. They preserve order while enforcing regulations and directives for a client site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and the area. Frequently our Security Officers will provide customer service and information to a client’s employees and customers. Requirements

  • Full agency‑issued uniform at all times, with visible identification and insignia.
  • Inclement weather outerwear must match uniform and display insignia.
  • No weapons or restraints are permitted on Shaw’s / Star Market property, including: Firearms, tasers, stun guns, Batons, nightsticks, impact weapons, Pepper spray, mace, or chemical agents, Handcuffs or restraints of any kind.
  • Do not argue with or accuse customers.
  • Never risk injury to recover merchandise.
  • If a situation escalates: disengage immediately, contact Store Management, AP, or law enforcement as directed.
  • No experience necessary!

Responsibilities

  • Provide a visible, professional deterrent to crime.
  • Support Store Management and Asset Protection (AP) through observation, presence, and reporting.
  • Be polite and respectful at all times.
  • Observe and report only.
  • Observe and report suspicious activity.
  • Provide backup support when requested by Management or AP.
  • Assist when Management or AP asks individuals to leave the premises.
  • Complete written incident reports per agency procedures.
  • Actively monitor the premises, including patrolling a variety of locations.
  • Preserve order while enforcing regulations and directives for a client site pertaining to personnel, visitors, and the area.
  • Provide customer service and information to a client’s employees and customers.
