About The Position

Our client is seeking an AS400 / RPG Technical Lead to support and maintain critical enterprise applications in a high-impact production environment. This is a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity with a strong path for long-term growth and leadership.

Requirements

• Strong experience with AS400 / IBM i application development and support
• Expertise in RPGLE and RPG Free
• Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues and work in high-pressure environments
• Experience using Jira or similar tools with project coordination exposure
• Proven technical leadership and mentorship, including offshore teams
• 5+ years of AS400 / IBM i development experience
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Experience working in mission-critical environments where uptime is essential

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support for AS400/IBM i applications, including troubleshooting production issues and resolving batch job failures
• Lead and mentor a team of developers (including offshore resources) while setting technical standards and best practices
• Act as a point of escalation for system outages, bugs, and performance issues
• Collaborate with business stakeholders and IT leadership to ensure system stability and continuous improvement
• Support ongoing modernization efforts as legacy systems evolve
