About The Position
Shambaugh & Son L.P. is looking for an IBM i / RPG Lead Developer. In this role you will be responsible for the development and maintenance of our current IBM database.
Requirements
- Extensive hands‑on IBM i experience (AS/400)
- Strong background in RPG / RPGLE (free‑form preferred)
- Strong CL/CLLE skills
- Solid knowledge of IBM i (AS/400) DB2 and SQL
- Experience maintaining and enhancing accounting/costing systems
- Ability to work independently with minimal oversight
- Long‑term ownership mindset for legacy systems
- Experience integrating IBM i applications with other systems
- Familiarity with modern development practices (source control, documentation, coding standards)
- Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, maintain, and enhance applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform
- Serve as the technical lead for RPG development efforts
- Work independently on complex enhancements and production support
- Mentor junior developers
- Participate in application architecture, modernization efforts, and technical planning
- Support and improve long‑running, back office systems
- Other duties as required
