(Sr) Lead, Retention Strategy & Operations

Nourish•San Francisco, NY
•Hybrid

About The Position

We're building a new growth function at Nourish focused on one of the biggest opportunities in our business: helping more patients successfully engage with and return to care. As an early member of the team, you'll own some of our highest-priority patient retention problems from 0→1 — identifying where patients are falling out of care, sizing the biggest opportunities, developing the strategy to address them, and driving solutions that measurably improve conversion, retention, and reactivation. This is a strategic, analytical role at the intersection of strategy & operations, data, product, and lifecycle marketing. You'll start with ambiguous business problems, use data and patient insights to determine where we should focus, and then work cross-functionally to turn those opportunities into outcomes. This is not a role where you'll inherit a mature program and optimize campaigns. You'll help determine what we should build, why it matters, and how we'll know it's working — and then own the work through execution, experimentation, and cross-functional influence. You'll report to the Head of Lifecycle Marketing. This is a full-time role, with a preference for candidates based in NYC or SF (expectation of working from our office 3–4 days per week).

Requirements

  • 3–7 years of experience in strategy, consulting, product, growth, lifecycle marketing, or another high-impact role where you've owned ambiguous business problems and driven measurable outcomes.
  • Data-fluent and experimentation-rigorous, and can drive analysis from insight to action.
  • Strategy and decision making rooted in data.
  • A 0-to-1 builder who has launched programs from scratch.
  • Self-starter who doesn’t wait for direction: you identify the highest-leverage work, define the plan, and drive it through ambiguity.
  • Deeply impact-oriented. Prioritize based on business outcomes, not activity, and have a track record of materially moving core metrics.
  • Comfortable in fast-moving environments; can juggle multiple priorities, adapt quickly when things shift, and thrive in hyper-growth.
  • Able to work well cross-functionally, building trust and alignment with different teams in a low-ego way.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in lifecycle marketing (including hands on ESP expertise, such as customer.io, braze, iterable)
  • Experience at fast-growing tech or healthcare startup
  • People leadership or strong coaching skills
  • Fluency with modern mar-tech stacks and engineering partnerships

Responsibilities

  • Identify and size the biggest opportunities across the patient journey, using quantitative and qualitative data to understand where we're losing patients and where we can drive the most impact on retention and LTV.
  • Own the strategy for high-priority retention problems, translating ambiguous business questions into clear hypotheses, roadmaps, and measurable goals.
  • Drive 0→1 initiatives from insight to impact — define the problem, develop the approach, align cross-functional partners, and own execution through launch, measurement, and iteration.
  • Own the metrics and experimentation roadmap for your area, turning data and experiments into clear insights on what's working and where we should invest.
  • Design and scale campaigns across email, SMS, push, and product touch points — building segmentation strategy, personalization frameworks, and journey architecture.
  • Partner with Product, Data, and Engineering to turn strategic opportunities into product experiences and scalable lifecycle capabilities.
