About The Position

As Lead Rendering Programmer, you are responsible for defining, building, and guiding the Unreal Engine–based rendering technology that delivers high‑quality, performant visuals on an AAA title. You provide technical leadership for rendering architecture while collaborating closely with Art, Tech Art, Engine, Gameplay, and Production to ensure rendering systems meet visual goals, performance targets, and platform constraints. You balance hands‑on development with mentorship, system ownership, and long‑term technical direction.

Requirements

  • Expert proficiency in C++, with extensive experience developing rendering systems in Unreal Engine.
  • At least 8+ years of professional experience in game programming, with shipped AAA titles using Unreal Engine.
  • Deep, hands‑on experience with Unreal Engine’s rendering pipeline and source code.
  • Strong understanding of real‑time rendering concepts including lighting, shading, materials, post‑processing, and GPU performance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring, or technically guiding programmers on a production team.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to design robust rendering systems under production constraints.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with Art, Tech Art, and Engineering.
  • Experience with version control systems such as Perforce or Git.

  • Experience modifying or extending Unreal Engine rendering systems.
  • Experience optimizing rendering for multiple platforms (PC, console, mobile).
  • Strong understanding of graphics APIs and GPU architecture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and implementation of core rendering systems and features within Unreal Engine.
  • Define and maintain rendering architecture, standards, and best practices across the project.
  • Provide technical leadership and hands‑on development for complex rendering features and pipelines.
  • Collaborate closely with Art and Tech Art to translate visual goals into performant Unreal Engine rendering solutions.
  • Mentor and support rendering programmers through code reviews, technical guidance, and best‑practice Unreal development.
  • Oversee rendering performance, memory usage, and scalability across supported platforms.
  • Drive optimization efforts, identifying bottlenecks and coordinating improvements across rendering subsystems.
  • Establish workflows, documentation, and debugging practices for rendering development.
  • Support production by identifying technical risks, estimating scope, and planning rendering feature development across milestones.
  • Debug complex rendering issues involving shaders, materials, lighting, GPU performance, and engine integration.
  • Guide Unreal Engine upgrades, rendering feature adoption, and custom engine modifications.
  • Stay current with Unreal Engine rendering advancements and industry trends in real‑time graphics.
