About The Position

The Lead Registered Nurse oversees nursing care in an assigned unit at a correctional facility, ensuring compliance with state guidelines and company policies. The role supervises and guides nursing and ancillary staff, audits performance, and provides coaching. The Lead Registered Nurse reviews care plans, monitors patient outcomes, maintains high standards for patient education and self-care, and coordinates care across departments. The position also supports staff orientation and training, attends institutional meetings, and travels as needed.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of employment.
Current CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

A minimum of one year of clinical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Direct and supervise nursing staff, ensuring adherence to licensure scope, policies, and procedures.
Review and audit nursing care plans, medical records, and staff performance; provide coaching and report findings.
Coordinate patient care with other departments and support continuity of care across the facility.
Assist with training, orientation, and staff meetings.
Maintain unit cleanliness, safety, and professional standards.
Identify problems, develop solutions, and communicate issues or corrective actions to the Director of Nursing.
Attend institutional meetings and travel as needed.
