About The Position

The Lead Registered Nurse oversees nursing care in an assigned unit at a correctional facility, ensuring compliance with state guidelines and company policies. The role supervises and guides nursing and ancillary staff, reviews care plans and patient outcomes, and supports patient teaching and self-care. The Lead Registered Nurse coordinates care across departments, helps maintain an orderly and safe unit, and assists with orientation and training. The position also involves attending institutional meetings and traveling as needed.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the state of employment.
• Current CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

• A minimum of one year of clinical experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise nursing staff to ensure adherence to licensure scope, policies, and procedures.
• Review and audit nursing care plans, medical records, and staff performance; provide coaching and report findings.
• Coordinate patient care with other departments and support continuity of care across the facility.
• Assist with training, orientation, and staff meetings.
• Help maintain unit cleanliness, safety, and professional standards.
• Identify problems, develop solutions, and communicate issues or corrective actions to the Director of Nursing.
• Attend institutional meetings and travel as needed.
