This Lead Registered Nurse role encompasses all core responsibilities and performance expectations of a Registered Nurse, in addition to leadership and oversight duties. The position collaborates with the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) and/or the Regional Director of Nursing to plan, direct, and evaluate the overall nursing care and functions of the clinic. This includes coordinating unit activities, directing, organizing, and assigning work to nurses and pharmacy technicians. The role involves assessing, monitoring, and educating nursing staff on patient care, and instituting emergency procedures as necessary. The Lead RN assures compliance with all job breakdown instructions (JBIs) and regulations for the assigned areas. Key responsibilities include ensuring continuity of patient care, preparing staffing schedules, planning orientation and training for new employees, overseeing incident and adverse event reports, coordinating patient education, acting as a resource for staff regarding AON policies, supporting clinical trials, managing pharmacy stock levels, and ensuring compliance with all federal and state laws and regulations. The role also involves maintaining patient and employee confidentiality, working at any AON location as needed, performing overtime when required, attending meetings, functioning as a Registered Nurse when necessary (including port flushes, injections, infusions, and nurse triage), ensuring completion of daily variance reports, maintaining knowledge of the Nucleus medication dispensing system, and creating a positive, high-quality work environment. The Lead RN provides daily direction and communication to employees, evaluates processes, establishes work procedures, provides performance feedback and coaching, maintains positive working relationships, and interviews job applicants.
