About The Position

The Lead Therapist is responsible for the efficient operation of the Center. They coordinate and balance therapy workload and provide leadership, direction, and guidance. This includes efficiently coordinating the daily patient flow, and working with the Manager of Radiation Oncology to anticipate and resolve problems and issues.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Radiation Therapy Program
  • 5 years’ experience as a Radiation Therapist
  • Demonstrates a strong ability to work with others.
  • Trained in equipment maintenance.
  • General understanding of physics, anatomy and physiology
  • Must be certified in Radiation Therapy by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologies ARRT (T)
  • Must be licensed by the State of Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MA DPH)
  • CPR certification and/or Advance Life Support certification

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree
  • In the absence of any of these skills, demonstrates the ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review daily schedule to confirm new starts, cone downs and any notes pertaining to individual patients.
  • Updating weekly schedule to insure accuracy.
  • Resolves difficult set-ups in conjunction with dosimetry and instructs therapists.
  • Practices continuous improvement and standardization of techniques.
  • Detect, identify, and coordinate repair of Radiation Therapy equipment.
  • Instructs team during equipment failures and notifies patients of situation.
  • Maintains an open line of communication with others (i.e., Chief Therapist, Nursing, Front office and Physician Staff).
  • Coordinate team and insures efficient management of time particularly during morning start up duties and evening shut down periods to insure all duties are done.
  • Triages emergent cases and negotiates necessary scheduling changes with, therapists and all other team members: (i.e., Chief Therapist, Nursing, Front office and Physician Staff).
  • Accurately documents treatment variances using the appropriate incident report tool.
  • Assist in the training of new staff therapists including orientation of policy and procedures.
  • Attend and participate actively in staff, therapist and Company meetings as needed.
  • Assures adequate inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain compliance among staff for proper equipment use.
  • Assures adequate staff training on new and existing equipment.
  • Responsible for overseeing weekly chart review, monthly chart checking, and billing for quality assurance.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend and lift while working on a full-time basis.
  • Able to assist patients with mobility problems.
  • Willing to work flexible house as dictated by needs of patient and Center.
