Lead QA Engineer

SupportworksOmaha, NE
Hybrid

About The Position

At Supportworks, we're transforming how contractors and homeowners connect and we're looking for a Lead QA Engineer to help us rebuild our QA function and shape how quality works at SolutionView. To help rebuild our in-house QA processes, we're hiring two QA engineers: a Lead QA Engineer (this role) and another QA Engineer who will work alongside you. You'll have the opportunity to define how QA works at SolutionView — process, tooling, standards, and culture, with real backing and the autonomy to do it well. If you've ever wanted to lead and shape a QA function rather than inherit one, this is the role for you! This role is hybrid and based in Papillion, NE. Initially, the role will require a heavier in-office presence for training and relationship-building. After ramp-up, the schedule is 3 days in office and 2 days work-from-home.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of QA experience across mobile and web applications
  • You've built or substantially rebuilt a QA function before — process, tooling, hiring, the whole thing
  • Strong mobile testing background, especially; iOS / iPadOS and Android (iPad is our most common deployment)
  • Field-deployment realities: offline behavior, sync, device variability, intermittent connectivity
  • Web cross-browser testing experience
  • Comfort working in systems with configurable logic, conditional workflows, and data-driven behavior
  • Strong communication skills across technical and non-technical teams
  • Coaching and mentorship instincts as you'll be partnering with a QA Engineer who will work alongside you

Nice To Haves

  • Test automation framework experience (Appium, XCUITest, Espresso, Playwright, Cypress, etc.)
  • Experience with Sofy.ai or similar low-code automation platforms
  • Debugging with logs and basic data inspection (SQL, JSON, etc.)
  • Experience testing apps used by reps in the field (offline states, sync issues, device variability)
  • Experience hiring or scoping QA roles
  • Business analysis chops — gathering requirements, defining acceptance criteria, or writing user stories with PMs and stakeholders
  • Experience mapping customer workflows or business processes (BPMN, flowcharts, journey maps)
  • Comfort facilitating requirement-gathering sessions with non-technical stakeholders

Responsibilities

  • Define and document QA process, standards, and workflows from the ground up
  • Establish tooling and infrastructure for manual and automated testing
  • Set the bar for what “release-ready” means at SolutionView
  • Mentor and partner with our other QA Engineer hire
  • Lead release quality across our tablet field app, web admin, customer portal, and integrations
  • Build a device coverage strategy (real devices, emulators, services like BrowserStack or Sauce Labs)
  • Own offline-first testing — sync conflicts, intermittent connectivity, and the messy realities of field use
  • Validate UI/UX behavior, responsiveness, and system interactions across iOS/iPadOS, Android, and modern browsers
  • Design and execute manual test plans, regression suites, and scenario-based tests grounded in real customer workflows
  • Expand and harden automated coverage (we currently use Sofy.ai)
  • Drive shift-left: ensure features are testable before development begins
  • Reproduce complex or inconsistent customer issues
  • Document clearly: steps to reproduce, expected vs. actual behavior, supporting evidence (logs, screenshots, recordings)
  • Partner with developers, PMs, and Support to validate fixes and ship with confidence
  • Provide a QA perspective in our support channels
  • Spot patterns across bugs and recommend systemic fixes — not just one-off solutions
  • Raise the floor for the whole team through better tools, better process, and shared standards
