About The Position

The Lead Public Safety Officer is a supervisory position assigned to specific security-related tasks related to OCVIBE properties, including Honda Center, Arena Corporate Center (ACC), Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center (ARTIC), and any outlying locations such as the RINKS facilities. The Lead Public Safety Officer reports directly to the Security Manager, assists with resolving issues, and provides a safe environment for all employees, guests, and vendors.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Prior service as a PSO 3 or Security Supervisor/Manager is a plus
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and diplomacy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess a valid California driver’s license
  • Work well with others to establish and maintain effective relationships with fellow workers, supervisors, managers, and other OCVIBE departments (e.g., Food and Beverage, Operations, Parking, Ushers)
  • Work well under pressure; able to think clearly in emergencies, giving accurate instructions and information to others
  • Must always present a clean/neat professional appearance
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Able to stand for extended periods, work consistent walking patrols, and ride/operate a battery-powered bicycle

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling personnel to cover required shifts, supervising PSO personnel, handling internal and external requests for services, making notifications as appropriate following incidents, ensuring construction site security is delivered and adjusted as necessary to address gaps in coverage, and conducting high-visibility patrol and monitoring activities from either an assigned vehicle, bicycle or from a static post/position.
  • Lead Public Safety Officers support the Security Manager and the day-to-day operations in their designated areas of responsibility. This role delivers on established goals and utilizes good judgment, knowledge, and skills to maintain quality standards.
  • Door and queue monitoring, guest screening, and bag check.
  • Lead Public Safety Officers supervise personnel and processes related to event security screening, ensuring screening processes are conducted thoroughly and appropriately, including overseeing the operation of magnetometers, x-ray machines, and any other technology related to guest screening.
  • Lead Public Safety Officers oversee security operations at specific locations during events (e.g., entrances to Honda Center, floor levels within Honda Center or other venues, stages, backstage areas, etc.) They monitor activity within the assigned venue, respond to, and ensure incidents involving disturbances, conflicts, and other matters are handled appropriately, approve and assist with the ejection of guests, oversee the reassignment of seats when necessary to resolve a dispute and prevent recurrence, communicate with relevant partnering departments during events to ensure clear communication (e.g., Premium Seating, Ticketing, Guest Services), ensure qualifying incidents are documented appropriately, and oversee the clearing of the venue after the show (including suites).
  • Supervise PSO personnel during events
  • Supervise PSO personnel assigned to infrastructure security (e.g., ARTIC, HC, etc.)
  • Responsible for the scheduling, support, coordination, and supervision of 24-hour security operations throughout the district
  • Conduct security patrol on foot and from an assigned vehicle or powered bicycle
  • Manage internal and external requests for security service
  • Identify and prevent unsafe conditions
  • Ensure security personnel assigned to an event or infrastructure security are equipped, in uniform, and prepared for their assignment
  • Communicate and coordinate with any security contractor providing third-party service
  • Prepare reports as needed
  • Identify and address any malfunctioning equipment
  • Supervise security personnel and operations at the Safety & Security Operations Center (SSOC or Security HUB)
  • Oversee personnel assigned in non-uniform security roles (e.g., Plain Clothes Officers, Investigations, etc.)
  • Ensure relevant information is exchanged during shift briefings
  • Make appropriate notifications as required following critical and/or impactful incidents
  • Make notifications to outside agencies (e.g., police, fire) as needed to address situations
  • Provide general information to guests and instruct guests/visitors regarding rules of conduct and prohibited items
  • Receive and process complaints from guests and/or fellow internal departments
  • Respond to incidents in or around the venue as directed, including disruptive behavior, disputes, intoxicated guests, seating conflict(s), etc.
  • Communicate to the Control Room, coworkers, and supervisors upon any observed misconduct or criminal behavior
  • Review/approve incident reports and Daily Activity Reports (DAR)
